MANILAbetjili, Philippines — Forty road accidents were recorded from Dec. 24 to 25 by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

The MMDA listed 31 road crashes on Christmas Eve and nine on Christmas Day.

Injured drivers and passengers were reported in 18 vehicular accidents, the MMDA said.

Three motorcycles were involved in hit-and-run accidents in Quezon City.

The Justice department, however, noted that it is only a legal opinion about the issue, which should serve as a reference for future legislation. 

Sideswiping, multiple collisions, rear-end crashes and other incidents were also recorded by the MMDA.

Even when fewer cars were expected during Christmasbetjili, roads were slippery as rain persisted since Tuesday.
