Closing 2024 on a high note, Filipina tennis prodigy Alex Eala celebrated a year filled with a mix of achievements and transformative experiences.
Taking to Instagram, the 19-year-old reflected on her journey and recounted key milestones that have shaped her burgeoning career.
“This year, I captured my biggest title yet (ITF W100) and broke into the top 150 in the world. To top it all off, I played all 4 Grand Slams! Baby Alex would be reaching for the stars to know she made it to all 4 majors before turning 20,” Eala shared with her fans.

Facing Russia’s top-seeded Polina Kudermetova, Eala started strong, taking the first set 6-4. However, Kudermetova’s powerful serves turned the tide, handing Eala a hard-fought three-set defeat, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Despite the loss, Eala’s 2024 season represents a significant leap forward in her career.

She added, “From traveling around the Philippines, to traveling around the world, I’m so thankful for the journey, to be healthy, and to be surrounded by so much love and support. Here’s to an even better 2025 season!”
As the curtain closes on a memorable year, Eala’s focus shifts to 2025 with unyielding determination.
Apeco president and chief executive officer Gil Taway IV said in a recent interview that he will embark on a follow-through investment mission to the United States from Oct. 20 to 27 to talk to firms about their investment interests inside the zone, especially in seaport and defense hub development.
The government agency issued this month the invitation to bid for the P56.76-million contract. Interested parties have until Nov. 5 to submit their proposals.
